   July 22nd, 2008   It's almost Schuetzenfest time again! The DASV welcome one and all to our 69th annual Schuetzenfest this Sunday starting at 12 noon and running well into the night.

 We will have our marksmanship contest for King of the DASV, live music and dancing, food and drinks for all tastes, special activities for the children, and the lovely Jagermeister girls will join us again this year.

 A $3 donation at the gate gets an all day entrance for an adult, and children under 12 are free! The DASV is conveniently located by the I-75 and M-59 interchange. Bring the entire family and enjoy!



   June 22nd, 2008   Please join us on Sunday, July 27th, for our 69th annual Schuetzenfest. We will have live music and dancing, fresh cooked German food, imported and local drinks for all tastes, and our members shooting for King of the DASV.  June is a busy month for the DASV.

 We had our Country and Western Barbeque and friendship shooting match against the Kolping on June 7th. The DASV won the match and a good time was had by all.

 We also had our big park clean up. Many volunteers helped make for a great time. Please see our photo gallery for pictures.

 The DASV will be providing the color guard at the Austrian Society's Waldfest on June 29th. The Austrian Park is located at 56200 Hayes Road (South of 26 Mile Road). Please see the Austrian Society's website for details.

   May 4th, 2008   We are pleased to begin our outdoor season with the Country and Western Barbeque on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Schuetzenpark.

   The park opens 5:00 P.M. and dinner starts at 5:30 P.M. We will have live music and dancing all evening. We will have steaks cooked to order as well as ala carte items, and drinks for all tastes.

     April 12th, 2008   We have added a new photo gallery this month with pictures from our Queensball on April 5th.

   Our team went to Chicago and competed against several other German American Marksmanship Clubs from throughout the mid-west. The team members report that a great time was had and we had great camardiere with our fellow shooters.

    March 15th, 2008   Please join us at the Schuetzenhaus on Saturday, April 5th starting at 7:00 PM for our DASV Queensball. We will honor our Queen Lorain and her royal court with a dinner and live music and dancing. An event flyer in .pdf format has also been added to our schedule of events page.

     February 24th, 2008    This month sees much activity for the DASV.

   We prepare for our annual trip to Chicago to compete against other German-American marksmanship clubs from around the midwest. Our visits have always provided great excitement and a chance to compete against our fellow sport shooters.

   We have also had our 30,000th page view from the U.S.A. this month. We continue to enjoy having a national and international audience share in our good times and celebration of our heritage.

   This month we have also made our DASV members-only newsletter available via email to those who are so inclined. This will provide an environmental benefit of less paper being used, as well as a cost savings in postage and printing.


   January 11th, 2008     We have now posted our 2008 schedule of events.

  Our first event this year is the Schlactfest dinner on Saturday, February 16th, starting at 7:00PM. Please make plans to join us for Schlactfest and another year of exciting good times. Please see our schedule of events page for details.

  We will have some new bands this year as well as some familiar favorites.

    December 28th, 2007   This month sees the two year anniversary of the dasv.org website. In the time since the website has been running, we have had many new members join, and seen many new faces at our events.

 We have also had visitors from around the world see the traditions and good times that we have in the DASV. The entire DASV family would like to extend best wishes to all our friends all over the world for a great holiday season and a happy new year!


    November 25th, 2007   The DASV Kingsball took place on October 27 at the Schuetzenhaus. We enjoyed a great meal from Catering by Catherine, and the Vagabonds band played an excellent show for our listening and dancing pleasure.

  The DASV wish to thank all who have attended this years events and help make for a wonderful year of fun times and great memories.

  This month also sees the DASV acquiring a Jagermeister machine which cools the drink to a temperature colder than ice! The Jagermeister machine has been a hit at our events this past year and now it has found a good home in the DASV.

  November also sees great changes for the DASV website. We have added several photo galleries of previous events.

 The new photos can be found on http://www.dasv.org/photo_gallery.html  Please update your bookmarks and check back often for new photos as they become available.

 There have also been some changes in the design of the site which should make for easier navigation.

 This month we have also linked to Vereinsbedarf Deitert in Germany, which is a firm that sells medals, uniforms and other Schuetzen related equipment.

    September 30th, 2007   The DASV's Oktoberfest took place on September 15th and saw a record turnout in spite of the unseasonably cool weather. We met many new friends thanks to the Detroit area German language group on meetup.com as well as being mentioned on several other internet sites.

 Many enjoyed our fresh cooked German food and imported beverages, especially the Jagermeister and Spaten Oktoberfest beer. The DASV thanks the Jagermeister and Spaten companies for their great support in making our Oktoberfest a great success.

 September also saw our friendship shooting match against the Kolping Society. This time the Kolping took home both trophies in an afternoon of spirited competition.

 Please make plans to join us at the DASV Schuetzenhaus on Saturday, October 27th starting at 6:00 PM for our 68th annual Kingsball honoring King Joe and his court. We will have live music and dancing with "The Vagabonds" and a catered meal. Table reservations are recommended.

   August 23rd, 2007    Our Schuetzenfest on July 29th was a great success! We had a great turn out and a great time was had by all. Our new King's court was announced to an enthusiastic audience.

 We also had a visit by the lovely Jagermeister girls who charmed the crowd and had many Jagermeister items for the audience. The DASV would like to thank the Jagermeister company for their help in making the Schuetzenfest a great success.

In the past month www.dasv.org had its 20,000th page view from the USA a

   The past month also saw our annual DASV/Kolping friendship shoot. The weather made for a beautiful day and an afternoon of spirited competion was enjoyed by all.

    April 26th, 2007   The DASV celebrated our Queen Suzanne and all of the DASV royal court with our annual Queensball on April 21st. The event was attended by many people, including our friends from many of the local German-American clubs in the metro Detroit area.

   A group from the DASV recently traveled to Chicago to compete against several other German-American marksmanship clubs. We placed first in the pistol shooting, and also competed in rifle contests.

   There was also a dinner for all the competitors and their guests. These events show the great love of sport and kinship that all of our clubs enjoy. Gut Schuß!

   February 13th, 2007   Our Schlactfest event was a great time. We had visitors from Germany say that is was just like being at home with our German food, drink, and dancing.

   We are once again offering rentals of the DASV hall and park grounds. Our conveniently located facility is an ideal location for your next personal or business event. Please see our rental page for all the details.

   We are pleased to announce that a new DASV T-shirt is available. The new shirt is an inverse of the previous design and has the DASV logo and white lettering on a green T-shirt. Please inquire at any of our events to purchase one.

   January saw the election of DASV officers for the year 2007. Our officers are; President Paul Werner, Vice-President Ken Burney, 1st Secretary Ronny Arndt, 2nd Secretary Michelle Bliszack, 1st Treasurer Sue Hogan, and 2nd Treasurer Virginia Rostine. Congratulations to all new and returning officers in 2007!

   Our January meeting also saw two new members join the DASV family. We look forward to many years of camaraderie with our newest members. Gut Schuß!

   November 27th, 2006   The DASV Kingsball on October 28th saw a record turn out. We had guests from as far away as Chicago come to enjoy the evening of fine food, music and dancing. The new King's court marched in procession and a gathering of all former Kings was warmly received by the guests.

   The DASV hosted the Michigan United Conservation Clubs District 7 meeting on November 7th. We had visitors from all over Michigan participate in this important meeting regarding sporting issues in Michigan.

   Our October meeting saw the presentation of medals to the top shooters in our recent competitions. Congratulations to all who won and carry on the best Schuetzen traditions. Gut Schuß!

   September 28th, 2006    Please join the DASV for our 67th annual Kingsball to honor our King Dennis and his Queen Suzanne.
 The DASV Kingsball will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2006 at the Carpathia Club,
38000 Utica Road, in Sterling Heights.

  The doors open at 6:00 PM with a cash bar, and a buffet style dinner starts at 7:00 PM, followed by the evenings program at 8:00 PM including live music and dancing from "The Vagabonds" band.

  This event has sold out before so table reservations are recommended.

  We had our Oktoberfest on September 23rd. Due to intermittent rain we had the Rheinlander band perform inside the DASV
clubhouse while people enjoyed their dinner in the park.
 
  The DASV would like to thank the Jägermeister company for their kind help in making the DASV Oktoberfest a great party.

  September also saw the annual Kolping/DASV friendship shoot. The Kolping took one of the trophies and the DASV took the other. This annual event shows the great camaraderie and competitive spirit that our two clubs enjoy. Gut Schuß!

  September also marks a milestone for the dasv.org website in having our 10,000th page view from the USA.

  August 23rd, 2006    Our 67th Schuetzenfest saw our new King Dennis take the eagle down after an afternoon of spirited competition. Congratulations to King Dennis and all of our new King's court.
 
  The DASV's Schuetzenfest was covered by the Oakland Press newspaper who wrote a nice article about the club and our festival.

  We recently hosted the Frohsinn choir from Königstädten, Germany. We were treated to many fine performances from them. We also had a chance to hear them at the Austrian Park during the Deutscher Tag festival.

  The DASV served as the color guard at the Deutscher Tag festival. We carried the flags of America, Germany, and Austria and held each aloft during the playing of their respective national anthems.

  July 14th, 2006    It's Schuetzenfest time again! Starting at 12 noon on Sunday, July 30th, 2006 the DASV will have its 67th Schuetzenfest, featuring two German bands providing live music all day and well into the night for your listening and dancing pleasure.

 We will have plenty of good German food and lots of domestic and German drinks to choose from.
If you have never seen the DASV's King Shoot Match do not miss your chance. We will also have special entertainment for children and great fun for all ages.
